MONTREAL - Police came to an east-end home Tuesday night only to find dead woman in the dwelling while her boyfriend was attempting to flee the apartment by leaping from a third storey window.
The suspect managed to flee on foot in spite of the high-impact landing from the multi-unit building near Ste-Catherine and Leclair.
Neighbours had called the police after hearing fighting and loud noises at 9:15 p.m.
Police kicked in the door only to find Elena Prekatsounakis, 25, dead.
The suspect had jumped out the third floor window. He then managed to flee down the street and was eventually caught several blocks away.
He was identified as Selehe Rashid Othman, 31, a Tanzanian national. He has been charged with second-degree murder.
