QUEBEC CITY - The Quebec National Assembly wants the federal government to intensify its efforts in helping Nathalie Morin leave Saudi Arabia with her children.

A motion to that effect will be filed Friday just before the summer recess.

Morin has been in Saudi Arabia since 2005 and is a mother of three, one of whom was born in Quebec.

Morin would like to return to Canada but her husband in Saudi Arabia has prevented her from leaving the country with her children.

When questioned in the legislature by Amir Khadir of Québec Solidaire, Premier Jean Charest suggested adopting a unanimous motion of the National Assembly, "to let the Saudi authorities know Morin's case will not be dealt with behind closed doors."
