MONTREAL - Another pro-independence group is planning a protest for Prince William and Kate's upcoming visit to the province.

The Mouvement pacifique pour l'independance du Quebec is plotting a satirical protest for the Montreal stop on Saturday.

The group describes itself as peaceful.

It says in a news release that protesters are invited to dress up as peasants in period costumes outside the Quebec Tourism and Hotel Institute.

The group is denouncing the monarchy as an outdated institution.

A royal protest is also planned for Quebec City on Sunday, but that one may be rowdier.

The Reseau de Resistance du Quebecois, another fringe sovereigntist group, is expecting up to 300 protesters outside city hall.

That group led a spirited demonstration during a 2009 visit to Montreal by Prince Charles.
