ST-LAMBERT, QC - A young female bicyclist suffered a serious head injury late Wednesday evening in St-Lambert after her bicycle and a small Chevrolet collided. 

The 17-year-old fell and her head hit the ground at the corner of Mercille and Desaulniers in St-Lambert around 11:30 p.m.

Police initially feared for the young woman's life, but medics at the Charles Lemoyne Hospital managed to stabilize her and she was subsequently deemed to be out of danger.

The motorist was a female and was unhurt in the incident. As of Thursday early afternoon, she had yet to be formally interviewed by police.

The young woman was not wearing a helmet, according to Longueuil police.

Police are interviewing both the motorist and cyclist to determine what caused the incident.
