MONTREAL - A bunch of naked bicyclists invaded Montreal streets Saturday night in the first Midnight Naked Bike Ride.

The six-kilometre ride hit sections of Rene Levesque, St-Catherine, Sherbrooke, and Berri as well as the crowded section of Crescent St. where onlookers got to peek at the riders cruising down the busy bar strip.

Organizers called the naked ride "an opportunity to challenge the social status that is displayed by our clothes, the cars we drive, and all the accessories that show our hierarchical position in society."

Organizers also billed it as a chance to show, "the diversity of body types and to highlight the beauty of humanity in its many colours, shapes, ages and experiences."

Most of the riders were men and the finer details of their physiques were difficult to fully appreciate due to the dim lighting.

The ride was not to be confused with the World Naked Bike Ride which takes places in June.
