The Surete du Quebec is investigating after a man was shot to death Thursday night in Rosemere.

The provincial police said that the man had just gotten home with his wife and was walking to his house when he was shot

The victim Francesco Zito, 37, was not known to police.

People living on Oriole St., near the Mille-Iles river, heard gunshots near 10:30 p.m. and called police.

Officers arrived to discover the body of a 37-year-old man lying in front of a house in the relatively isolated neighbourhood. The man was declared dead as soon as he was taken to hospital.

The attack happened in an area that has only one road leading in or out, and Oriole St. is surrounded by a forest which runs to the shoreline.
