Police continue to search for clues after a 21-year-old woman was shot dead on a Quebec trail last week.

Investigators found her car in a church parking lot in her hometown of Saint-Louis-de-Gonzague.

Sureté du Québec spokesman Ronald McInnis said the Toyota Tercel belonging to Karine Faubert was spotted in the parking lot Sunday night. Faubert was found dead on a hiking trail in nearby Godmanchester on Friday, about 90 kilometres south of Montreal.

Surete du Quebec had asked for the public's assistance in tracking down the vehicle, saying it could lead to clues as to how she died.

She was studying communications at UQAM, according to her Facebook page. She also worked at the restaurant in the Plaza Hotel in Valleyfield, where she was described by co-workers as a good, reliable employee.

Police said the investigation is ongoing.
