Raynald Desjardins, the former right-hand man of mafia boss Vito Rizzuto, was the target in a Friday morning shooting in Laval that left one person slightly injured.

Desjardins, 57, was in a van on Levesque Blvd. under Highway 25 when a man in another car opened fire on the vehicle.

By the time officers arrived they found nobody around -- but discovered two vehicles riddled with bullet holes.

Police say they are not certain if the person who was injured was actually shot.

Desjardins, who has a previous conviction for drug smuggling, and another man were being questioned by Laval police.

On Saturday afternoon police reported that they had questioned Desjardins and that he had refused to comment or provide information concerning the event.
