MONTREAL - The latest phase of city road work on Park Avenue began Monday.

The stretch between Laurier and Villeneuve Sts. is being torn up to replace part of a high pressure water main that serves close to 150,000 neighbourhood residents.

Traffic is reduced to one lane in each direction until Sunday, then starting next Monday, traffic will be down to one lane northbound, with an additional northbound lane between 2:30 and 6:30 pm.

All southbound traffic will be re-routed to St. Urbain St.

The work continues until at least December.

This is the latest of an eight-phase plan to do roadwork on Park Ave. which began in mid-2010 and will not be finished until 2012.
