MONTREAL - A war memorial in an NDG park has been targeted by vandals for the second time in as many years.

The vandalism happened Sunday at a Second World War cenotaph in Girouard Park following a local graffiti prevention festival called Hip Hop You Can't Stop that aims to promote legal graffiti art.

The incident prompted anger from borough officials and residents, as well as members of the Canadian Armed Forces.

"It's very unfortunate to see that the great minds that do this art can go ahead and just deface a monument in such a way that it erases everything that was positive about yesterday's event," said Brangwyn Jones, a member of the Canadian Armed Forces.

The monument was vandalized by a 15-year-old in July 2010.
