MONTREAL - A Lachine church has been robbed for the second time, with the thieves this time taking off with $50,000 of valuables.

The burglars broke in to the Evangelical Resurrection Centre at 1850 Saint-Antoine St. Sunday night, stealing mostly audio visual equipment.

"They stole a lot of our computer equipment-- most of equipment in the media department, projectors, microphones, sound equipment," said Bishop David Burton.

The audio-visual equipment is integral to the 400-member congregation, because many of the worshippers are elderly and can't attend service. They watch sermons on the church's website.

This is the second robbery in the church, prompting the organization to install security cameras.

The thieves stole everything right down to the ink cartridges from the printers, said the bishop, as well as supplies from the food bank the religious institution runs.

"For them to break in here and steal some of our stuff is not nice, and I hope they will catch them," said Ronald Logan, a member of the congregation for 43 years, who said the crime hasn't dissuaded him from attending service.

"That doesn't stop us from carrying on God's work," he said.
