Libya officially declared itself a new and free nation this past Sunday, but what is the future of the country following the death of dictator Moammar Gadhafi?

Mutsumi Takahashi sat down with the president of Rights and Democracy, Gerard Latulippe, who was not surprised that the leader of the transitional government declared that Libya will be run under Shariah law.

"I was in Libya a few weeks ago, and I met with one of the judges of the supreme court of Libya who was also a judge of the African Human Rights court," said Latulippe.

"Shariah has always been an influence of the law of Libya. It is the school--a school of thought of Shariah called Maliki," said Latulippe.

"This school of Shariah is more flexible than other schools of Shariah," and is used in Morocco and Tunisia.
