Demonstrators from the Occupy Montreal movement have begun to build wooden cabins so they can continue to fight for their cause through the cold winter, but the city says the protesters may have gone too far.

Protesters are being asked to dismantle the wooden cabins, said city spokesperson Gonzalo Nunez

"Those structures that are being built represent a fire hazard to our fire department," said Nunez.

The city hasn't yet made any specific demands, but some protesters say they are planning to stay at the site for the long haul.

"This is my home now," said Pierre Olivier Boudreau, who was building a wooden structure after living at the Victoria Square campout for the past month.

"Our demands are serious. We want to start a real debate and we're ready to stay all winter to show just how serious we are."
