MONTREAL - After three months of picketing, McGill's striking support staff might soon be back at work.

The MUNACA union announced that it has reached an agreement in principle on a five year contract with the university Thursday morning.

Little information was released concerning the actual content of the offer green-lighted by the union brass after a conciliator entered the negotiations.

"I cannot go into detail over it," said MUNACA President Kevin Whittaker, "but it addressed our wage scale issues it has a number of our other major issues addressed in it."

"Is it perfect? No. But I think it's the best we can get right now and I think it's definitely worth recommending to the membership," he said.

The road to a return involves clearing out some legal proceedings that the union made against McGill concerning the alleged hiring of replacement workers.

Some workers planned to celebrate the news and others simply expressed relief.
