WINNIPEG - Charges against former junior hockey coach and convicted sex offender Graham James are going before a Winnipeg judge Dec. 7.

James' case has been remanded numerous times over the past year while the defence and Crown continued discussions about the case.

But in docket court today, the two sides announced the case will appear before a judge in a courtroom equipped with a video link, which would allow James to make an appearance from Montreal.

Defence lawyer Evan Roitenberg wouldn't say what will happen Dec. 7, but said it would be wrong to expect James will enter a plea.

James has been out on bail for almost a year and living in Montreal after his arrest on new sex assault charges involving young hockey players he once coached as juniors, including former Calgary Flames forward Theo Fleury.

Fleury went on to become a star in the National Hockey League and wrote about the alleged abuse in his book before making a complaint to police.
