MONTREAL - For most people, retirement means slowing down.

But that's not the case for the head coach of Montreal's only community volleyball club. After retiring almost 20 years ago, Ants Toke turned to his favourite sport.

At the age of 80, he shows no signs of slowing down.

For the past 33 years, Ants has almost single-handedly run the Montreal Athletics Regional Club, located at the Trenholme Centre in NDG. It's the only community volleyball club in the city.

"I do what the others are doing," he told CTV Montreal. "I run, I cross-country ski, I climb the ropes like anybody else."

That means training five different teams 12-months per year, all on a volunteer basis.

"There's no financial benefit here," said Cristina Gavrila, a volleyball player and member of the club. "So, it's all about the sport. He loves volleyball. He loves it. He dedicated his life to volleyball."

Volleyball is his first love, and Tok has been involved in playing and coaching sports in since his arrival in Montreal, from his native Estonia, in 1949.

Volleyball, he said, and maintaining a healthy, active lifestyle are his secrets to success.

"There is nothing to it really," he said. "If you are member of the club, you will eventually be my age, and you'll be like me."
