Canadiens' prospect Brendan Gallagher, recently returned from duties on the Canadian Junior squad, scored three goals and assisted on four others Saturday as his Vancouver Giants beat the visiting Portland Winterhawks 8-4 on Saturday in Western Hockey League action.

The diminutive Gallagher, who was a late-cut from Montreal Canadiens' training camp after impressing brass with stellar offensive play, performed the impressive offensive display after a special meeting.

Prior to the game, the Canadiens' fifth-round pick in 2010 had lunch with Hall of Famer Guy Lafleur, who was visiting Vancouver.

Whatever advice Lafleur might have given the young prospect seemed to help, as the Giants (25-14-2) ended their rival Winterhawks (26-12-3) six-game winning streak.

Adam Morrison picked up his 24th win of the season, stopping 31 shots, while Mac Carruth was yanked midway through the second after allowing four goals against on 19 shots.

Brendan Burke came on in relief and allowed four goals on 16 shots.

Gallagher has scored 27 goals in 29 games, on pace to challenge Evander Kane's team record of 48 goals in a season.
