DORVAL- The Blake sisters have turned a Dorval gymnasium into their home away from home.

Thirteen-year-old Hayley and nine-year-old Shannon are at Wimgym almost every day of the week, and so is their mother.

"Between the two of them we're here six days a week and at opposite time, so I'm here a lot," said Carrie Brisson.

Bouncing off the mat, walking along a beam and flipping through the air are all old hat for the sisters.

Hayley started practicing athletics at age five and coach Cody Casey quickly noticed her innate skill.

"It's difficult to teach young kids how to demand attention when they dance and when they work through their movements, and she was able to do that naturally," said Casey.

Like younger siblings everywhere, it wasn't long before Shannon wanted to imitate her older sister Hayley.

"She flipped and twisted and it made me feel like I wanted to do that," said Shannon.

Hayley, ever gracious, is impressed with her sister's skill.

"She really improved a lot and I'm just amazed that she can do it like me."

Hayley was very successful in her first provincial championship, finishing first atop a crowd of 200 competitors.

This season Hayley placed first on Beam, first on Bars, and second All-Around at the first provincial qualifier of the 2011-2012 season.

At the GymIbik Invitational, Hayley was first All-Around, second on the Vault, Bars and Beam and third on the Floor, while Shannon first on the Bars, second on the Floor, and third All-Around.

Head coach Natalie Turner says Shannon's enthusiasm is infectious.

"She's like a little ball, when she tumbles she's so fast and so bouncy and it's fun to watch. Whenever she does something she always finishes with a smile," said Turner.

In their down time, like many competitors, the girls continue to live and breathe gymnastics.

"We just have like contests and stuff, hand stands," said Hayley.
