MONTREAL - Celine Dion blamed drugs and lifestyle choices for Whitney Houston's death in a interview with Good Morning America Monday.
While most artists gave tribute to the star found dead in a hotel room at the Beverly Hilton Saturday, Dion offered a wake-up call for artists tempted by the allure of drugs.
Celine Dion expressed concern about the demons facing many artists who operate in the Hollywood showbiz environment, citing Elvis Presley, Marilyn Monroe, Michael Jackson and Amy Winehouse, all of whom died prematurely because of their drug or alcohol addictions.
Dion started by stating that Whitney Houston has always been an inspiration to her, but then denounced, "drugs, malicious people or those who have a bad influence on her."
Whitney Houston became one of the most popular singers in the world in the 1980s and 1990s.
However, over the years, she became the very picture of the ravages of drug use.
Investigators could take weeks before determining the exact cause of Houston's death.
