MONTREAL - Jon Asher wants to expose homelessness by covering it up.

This year he is leading his fourth straight Blankfest, which aims to collect blankets and clothing for the homeless.

"Montreal's got a lot of heart," said Asher. "The last few years we've been doing this we've raised almost, after tonight we will have raised almost 2,000 clothing items for the homeless and low income families so I think it's a great cause."

The initiative is being partnered by the Old Brewery Mission who confirm that there's a need for such goods.

"Coat, blanket, gloves, hat, we always need these kinds of clothes because it's still cold outside," said Neila Ben Ayed, of the Old Brewery Mission.

"The men who live here, who stay here, need clothes, so when we say to them we have clothes they are happy they really appreciate it."

The event features a concert at Frites Alors on Ste. Catherine and University Saturday night, admission is a piece of winter clothing or a blanket.
