MONTREAL - A Mexican farm worker who stabbed a sex worker to death over a $20 dollar extra fee plead guilty Monday to manslaughter charges in Montreal.

Manuel Victor Martinez-Moralez, 35, came to Montreal as a migrant worker in 2010. He spent much of his wages on prostitutes but had a special enthusiasm for Marilyn Dupuis, 21.

Martinez-Morales hired Dupuis for sexual services on February 19, 2011 but when the two disagreed on whether he should pay her the extra $20, she left, only to return with her driver at 11:15 p.m.

Her driver Karl Pierre-Louis kicked in the door of the basement apartment on 14th Ave. in St. Michel and demanded the $20.

Martinez-Morales panicked, ran to the kitchen for a knife and stabbed Dupuis 14 times.

The two men then fought and Martinez-Morales was badly beaten. Pierre-Louis also suffered serious injuries but managed to survive to call 911.

Pierre-Louis was eventually questioned as to whether he had been dealing drugs or working as a pimp but was not charged with any offense.

On Monday, Martinez-Morales plead guilty to manslaughter, after a plea bargain which saw the initial charge of first degree murder reduced.

His dream of remaining in Canada appears to be over, as he will likely be returned to Mexico after his release.

A sister of the dead girl will read a victim impact statement when Martinez-Morales is sentenced in March.
