MONTREAL - Big Ben Millaud-Meunier is driven by spite.

"What motivates me? Pretty much all the coaches who never believed in me and the players who don't believe I should play at this level," he said.

Millaud-Meunier has proven all doubters wrong, as he continues to lead the Vanier Cheetahs to Quebec best Cegep basketball record.

He leads the league in points, three-point shots, free-throws. He's the first Vanier basketball player to lead the league in scoring for in 20 years.

Millaud-Meuner has even been scouted and signed by a U.S. college, having inked a scholarship to St. Francis University in Pennsylvania starting in September.

Big Ben is living the dream and he knows it.

"I take nothing for granted," he said. "I am very lucky to be in the position I am in today," he says. "I am going to play in the States next year and that's been a dream since I was five years old."

His coach Andy Hertzog said that Millaud-Meunier's gaudy stats belie his passing-first orientation.

"He's an unselfish player. He makes some tremendous passes and he prefers dishing the ball for an easy score for one of his teammates than scoring himself," said Hertzog.

His teammates don't hold back their praise for big Ben and credit him with stubborn determination.

"I think it's the way he worked. That's how he is. Someone tells him he can't do something and he just works harder and gets his goal" says Jonathan Bermillo, his teammate.
