MONTREAL - Big Buffalo defenceman Tyler Myers scored early into overtime to sour an impressive comeback undertaken by the Habs in Buffalo Monday.

David Desharnais had just scored his 15th goal of the season on a goalmouth scramble with 4.6 seconds left in regulation time to send the Habs into overtime at 2-2 in Buffalo.

Desharnais sent a wrist shot into an open net from the slot after a prolonged scramble to get the tying goal. Max Pacioretty and Erik Cole were credited with assists.

Tyler Ennis scored both the tying and leading goals for the Buffalo Sabres after the Habs took an 1-0 lead.

The Montreal Canadiens began their quest for a third-straight road victory Monday on the right foot as Erik Cole opened the scoring on a slapshot from well out that eluded Buffalo netminder Ryan Miller.

Cole's 26th goal of the season, scored at 4:32, appeared to have eluded Miller's sight, landing in the net beyond his outstretched glove. David Desharnais was credited with the assist.

The Sabres outshot the Habs 14-6 in the first frame but Slovakian backup netminder Peter Budaj was up to the challenge, shutting down many solid scoring opportunities.

Max Pacioretty was sent to the trainer's room writhing in pain early in the second period, after a shot he was trying to block hit him near the foot or shin. He eventually returned, apparently unscathed by serious injury.

Andrei Markov, in his second game after returning from a long-term injury, was hit in the face by an errant stick early in the second period as well but did not suffer serious damage.

Tyler Ennis tied the score midway through the frame after catching Andrei Markov lunging to his right in an unsuccessful attempt to get the puck.

Once past Markov, Ennis tap-danced laterally into the slot from the face-off circle, leaving himself alone with a vulnerable Peter Budaj, whereupon the curly-haired sniper popped a wrist shot into the twine past the helpless goaltender at 11:12 of the second. It was Ennis' ninth marker of the season.

Budaj redeemed himself with several other impressive stops soon after.

Ennis scored his 10th goal of the season, his second of the game, early in the third period. His centering pass was lightly deflected by Alexei Emelin into the corner of the net. Emelin looked dejected but had the puck escaped his grasp it would likely have reached the streaking Sabre moving forward in the slot for an easy tap-in goal.

The Canadiens scored five of a possible eight points on the four-game road trip.

After the game Markov told a media scrum that he took blame for the Sabres' second goal.

"It's my fault," he said, dejectedly.
