MONTREAL - A teashop in Chinatown was significantly damaged by a fire Friday morning.

The fire began at 8 a.m. at 1063 St. Laurent Blvd., and although 100 firefighters were battling the three-alarm fire in the three-storey building, it was still burning an hour and a half later.

Operation Chief Francis Leduc said an apartment on the third floor of the commercial/residential building was evacuated but nobody was injured.

So far firefighters have been able to determine that the fire began at the rear of the store, but won't try to determine how it began until all the hotspots have been eliminated.
