MONTREAL - About 30 protesters, mostly students, tried to disrupt Jean Charest's restaurant outing Saturday evening on the Plateau.

The protesters unfurled a large black banner and held it outside the window as Charest dined at the au Pied du Cochon restaurant at 536 Duluth E.,

Other demonstrators shouted slogans and banged on garbage cans behind the restaurant.

Police quickly arrived and formed a line outside the restaurant, pushing the demonstrators back.

Charest was accompanied by bodyguards.

Police made no arrests and the protesters moved on after about 15 minutes.
