A Kahnawake man was charged with murder in a Longueuil court this afternoon, following the death of a man in the community on Montreal's south shore.

The Kahnawake Peacekeepers discovered the body of a 56-year-old man Monday night in the parking lot of a cigarette shop on Route 207. They promptly informed the Surete du Quebec who arrived by 11:30 p.m.

Beauvais, 31, was questioned overnight and appeared in court in Longueuil on Tuesday afternoon.

According to the SQ, the two men knew each other and the incident began as an argument.

Police are also questioning several other witnesses.

Peacekeepers and the SQ set up a sizable security perimeter blocking route 207 between route 138 and Highway 30 while they investigated the homicide.
