MONTREAL - In the last Sports Extra for a season full of disappointment for Canadiens' fans, the a trio of wise hockey analysts kicked around what it would take to see some better results next year.

One problem is that the Pacioretty-Desharnais-Cole line did almost all of the scoring this year, said CTV Montreal's Brian Wilde.

John Lu of TSN pointed to the loss of Andrei Markov, the resultant power play problems and Kaberle acquisition, which saddled the team with another albatross contract.

Wilde added that the coaching change destabilized the team, which fared more poorly after Jacques Martin was fired and replaced by Randy Cunneyworth.

John Lu showed some optimism, predicting that Carey Price, "will probably be great next season." He suggested that a Julien Brisebois-Pierre McGuire tandem could be installed at the General Manager position. Lu predicted the team would make the playoffs next season.

Francois Gagnon of La Presse said that it's important to get rid of bad contacts, notably that of Scott Gomez, who could find himself playing for the AHL Hamilton Bulldogs in September.
